About Thecasinopick

Thecasinopick reviews online casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and publishes gambling news every day. Every casino on our list is checked at source before it appears.

Regulated only, and checked properly

Over a hundred companies hold an active remote casino licence in Great Britain, and between them they run many hundreds of brands. Thousands more sites will take a British card without being licensed at all. We only write about operators holding an Active UK Gambling Commission licence, and a casino only joins our list once it has passed our checks.

The list grows only as fast as we can check it. Every licence on this site is re-read from the Commission’s register download, every offer is worked through in pounds, and every review says when it was last checked. A list that grows faster than its checks turns into copy and paste, which is the problem this site was built to avoid.

Licence data on the page, not in the footer

The licensee name, licence number and licence account appear in full next to the casino they belong to, with a link to that operator’s entry on the Commission’s public register. You should never have to take our word for whether a site is licensed.

Reading the register properly turns up things most comparison sites miss. The UK-licensed LeoVegas site is leovegas.co.uk; leovegas.com is listed as Inactive. 888casino and William Hill share a parent company but hold two separate licences, so a complaint or a brand-level self-exclusion with one does not carry over to the other.

A daily news desk

Gambling rules in Britain have changed more in the last two years than in the decade before: slot stake limits, a ten-times cap on bonus wagering, a ban on mixed-product promotions, and new checks on how much people can afford to lose. Our news section covers regulation, bonus changes, payments, operator news and new games, and every article names and links its source.

Safer gambling comes first

Every review covers how quickly you can set a deposit limit, take a break or self-exclude, and every page links to free, confidential support. If gambling has stopped being fun, the National Gambling Helpline is open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133, and GAMSTOP will block every UK-licensed site at once.

How we are funded

We may earn commission when a reader opens an account through a link on this site. Every such link is marked as an affiliate link. Commission never affects a score, a ranking or a verdict, and we are not owned by, and take no editorial direction from, any gambling operator. Our editorial policy explains how that separation works in practice.

Frequently asked questions

Do operators pay for a place on your shortlist?

No. The shortlist is editorial and commercial relationships do not buy entry.

Do you cover casinos without a UK licence?

No. Regulated-only is the premise of the site, not a policy we apply selectively.
