Both operators surrendered their UK licences on 4 September, a week after the Gambling Commission suspended them over suspected failings.
Two online betting operators, BresBet Ltd (bresbet.com) and Bet St George Ltd (betstgeorge.com), surrendered their Gambling Commission operating licences on 4 September 2026.
The Commission had suspended both licences on 28 August after its enquiries revealed suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings, and had begun a formal review of both under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005.
The suspension did not stop customers from logging in and withdrawing their money, and the Commission told both businesses to treat customers fairly and keep them informed. After the surrender, it reminded both operators that they must have plans in place so customers are not unnecessarily disadvantaged. The Commission’s guidance on closing a licensed gambling business sets out what operators must do.
This is a good reminder to withdraw balances you do not need and to keep your contact details up to date with any operator you use.
